The Orquestra Sinfônica do Theatro Municipal (Theatro Municipal’s Symphony Orchestra) of São Paulo city held a concert, free of charge, in tribute to all health professionals for their activities during the Covid-19 pandemic. The event took place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Theater of the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) and followed all sanitary protocols against the coronavirus, such as the use of masks and alcohol gel, social distancing and testing of all musicians.

The presentation was conducted by conductor Roberto Minczuk, with the participation of approximately 50 musicians, plus soloists Paola Baron, harpist, Camila Barrientos Ossio, clarinetist, and David Marcodes, opera singer. The repertoire consisted of international classic works by Wolfgan Amadeus Mozart, Claude Debussy and Gioachino Antonio Rossini. Highlighting the play “Mourão”, composed by two Brazilians, César Guerra-Peixe and Clóvis Pereira. The show was exclusive to employees who worked or are still working on the front line of combating the coronavirus at the Hospital das Clínicas at FMUSP.

Conductor Roberto Minczuk declared: “in the face of a difficult time we are living in, a pandemic that will complete two years, this is a special day, I come to share with you a little of the joy of Mozart and other composers”.

In the end, Gisleine Eimantas, Executive Director of the School of Continuing Education (EEP) at HCFMUSP, handed flowers to conductor Roberto Minczuk in a gesture of thanks on behalf of the Faculdade de Medicina da USP and the Hospital das Clínicas for all at Theatro Municipal’s Symphony Orchestra.
