The 2030 Academic Health System Strategic Planning Meeting took place yesterday, December 2, 2021, at the Institute of Radiology (InRad) and was attended by more than 60 people, including directors, professors, physicians, employees and special guests. The entire event followed the sanitary protocols against Covid-19, such as the use of masks and alcohol gel and social distancing.

In the morning, participants watched and presented data and information on activities carried out during the last decade throughout the FMUSP-Hospital das Clínicas Academic Health System. In the afternoon, discussions and dynamics were held for the development of goals, processes and guidelines that will lead the conglomerate's management until the year 2030. At the end, a video containing the event's message was presented to the participants.

The Academic Health System is formed by the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) and the Hospital das Clínicas (HC) of FMUSP, which promoted the event, as well as the medium complexity University Hospital of USP (secondary care); the specialized units for the Outreach Service for HIV/AIDS Patients, the Escola Butantã Health Center and Basic Health Units (primary care) and the supporting institutions Faculdade de Medicina Foundation and Zerbini Foundation.

Prof. Tarcisio Eloy Pessoa de Barros Filho, Director of FMUSP and President of the Deliberative Council of HCFMUSP, mentioned that this event is a consequence of the 2020 Strategic Planning, carried out in 2010, when goals were set for future years of management of the entire complex and highlighted that "the transitions of Boards without major trauma in recent years shows that the work has been very well executed". He also added: "I thank the work of axis coordinators and everyone who makes this dream come true."

The Vice-Director of FMUSP, Prof. Roger Chammas said that, “in research we were able to test massive integration, we are internationally recognized as a center of excellence in health, we have the american recognition of a good environment for partnerships and that encourages quality research”. He stated, “In order for us to continue to shine, as we have done in the last decade, we need to continue with the alignment of the great human capital that we have here and move towards new challenges that lie ahead. We are what we are for the leadership of each one, thank you very much for your dedication to the Institution”.

In addition to Prof. Tarcisio E.P. Barros Filho and Prof. Roger Chammas, the opening was composed by Profa. Eloisa Silva Dutra de Oliveira Bonfá, Clinical Director of HCFMUSP, Eng. Antonio José Rodrigues Pereira, Superintendent of HCFMUSP, Prof. Flávio Fava de Moraes, General Director of Fundação Faculdade de Medicina, and Prof. Carlos Alberto Pastore, Vice President Director of the Zerbini Foundation.

Prof. Eloisa Bonfá highlighted that each participant in the event was chosen as a representative of a community and that the responsibility for thinking about HCFMUSP for the future is very great, she declared “our greatest strength and triumph is the professional team”. As a future projection, the Professor mentioned some aspects that are important to be encouraged and implemented, such as “the culture of innovation, information technology, and due to globalization, investments in international cooperation and integration”.

Today (03/12), also following the sanitary protocols, another edition of the annual Workshop Brilho nos Olhos (Shine in the Eyes) takes place, organized by the Superior Administration of HCFMUSP, with the objective of revisiting administrative actions, reassessing pathways and improving the Hospital's care model of the Clinics. Added to the 2030 Strategic Planning Meeting of the Academic Health System, efforts are made to maintain credibility and progress in teaching with high ethical precepts, technical quality and humanism; the primacy of research; and the cultural activities and the extension of highly complex services to society, within the highest ethical and moral principles.
