For 50 years, students from the 54th class of the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de São Paulo (FMUSP) roamed corridors, classrooms and academic spaces, imagining what the future would be like, when their graduations were imminent. Today, December 3, 2021, they returned for their Golden Jubilee, in a ceremony at the FMUSP theater, respecting sanitary measures, such as the use of masks and alcohol in general and social distance between the seats.

Present at the event, Professor Roger Chammas, Vice-Director of FMUSP, thanked the presence of approximately 80 spectators, addressing especially the former students: “I appreciate the love you have for our house, as it brings us the responsibility to maintain the legacy that you left. Thank you so much for everything you did in college and in your professional life".

Then Professor Ricardo Nitrini, chosen as speaker for the 1971 class, gave a presentation with several photographs of his university colleagues, in addition to paying tribute to professors who could not be honored at the time because of differences with the dictatorial regime.Finally, each student received a straw with a diploma. The conversations contained at the beginning of the event turned into storytelling and lots of laughter. The REMUSP group (USP Medical Students' Recital), formed by FMUSP students, also thanked the Jubilee honorees, citing them as “inspiration”, before introducing themselves.
