Representatives of the University of Surrey (UK) attended a meeting at the Faculdade de Medicina da USP (FMUSP) on October 31, 2022, with the intention of establishing a direct link between the medical areas of both institutions, partners since 2011 by the University Global Partnership Network (UGPN).

The event took place under the auspices of the USP Agency for National and International Academic Cooperation (AUCANI) and the International Office of FMUSP. Present on the University of Surrey committee were Prof. Paul Townsend, Executive Director of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, and Prof. Kamalan Jeevaratnam, Director for International Affairs at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Surrey. FMUSP was represented by Prof. Roger Chammas, Chief of Staff at FMUSP, and Profa. Valeria Aoki, President of the Institutional Relations Committee. Prof. José Carlos Farias Alves-Filho, from the USP Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto (FMRP-USP), participated in the meeting remotely.
