The FMUSP Winter Schools came to an end after two weeks of academic, practical and socializing activities with students from several universities. The closing ceremony took place on June 29, at the Anatomy Auditorium of the Faculdade de Medicina da USP. In total, it brought together 40 students from 14 countries and 21 higher education institutions.
Professor Valeria Aoki, President of the FMUSP International Relations Commission, led the farewell and congratulated all students for their courage to embark on the experience and for their academic competence. She also recognized the logistical work and support provided by the Faculty's International Relations Commission (CRInt).
Professor Nelson Gouveia, from the Department of Preventive Medicine at FMUSP, also addressed the undergraduates: “I hope you had two fruitful weeks, learning and making new friends. I hope you’ll take home good memories from the Winter Schools.”
Afterwards, study groups of each specific area (psychiatry, geriatrics, dermatology, etc.) took center stage in the Auditorium, led by the coordinating professors. Each professor made an evaluation of the last two weeks, exalting the interest and academic proficiency of the visiting students, in addition to reinforcing the desire to continue the exchange promoted by the FMUSP Winter Schools.
Finally, two exchange students prepared presentations about the period spent in Brazil. With photos and a video including moments of teamwork, visits to the units of the Hospital das Clínicas complex and special moments of contact with the culture, cuisine and people of the country, they thanked for the opportunity and underlined the achievement of a new, broader and more globalized understanding of the medical practice.
